The purpose of the Guilderland Teachers' Association shall be to promote the interests of education; to advance the standards of the teaching profession; to secure the conditions necessary to the greatest effectiveness of teachers and schools; to represent its members in district, area, county, state, national and other professional teacher organizations in which majority group interests are concerned; and to encourage interest on the part of pupils in preparing for the teaching profession.

The Guilderland Teachers' Association is a NYSUT- and AFT-affiliated union that represents public school teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, school psychologists, speech and language teachers, nurses, and teaching assistants working within the Guilderland Central School District.
The GTA has over 550 members serving the needs of 5,000 students in seven schools - five elementary, one middle, and one high school - in two counties, Albany and Schenectady. The GTA is proudly committed to its members, the students of GCSD, and the community at large.
